01 / The purpose
A classic duty belt carries more than equipment. It carries the appearance expected of the profession. This system is being developed to preserve that standard while addressing the daily compromises underneath it.
Hook-and-loop engagement is intended to connect the inner and outer belts along their contact surface, reducing movement without depending on individual keepers. Four two-button keepers preserve the familiar appearance.
Semi-rigid reinforcement is intended to resist sag and help the belt maintain its shape under equipment loads. A choice of slim or discreetly padded underbelt lets the wearer prioritize a close fit or added cushioning.
The outer belt is intended to come off as an assembled system while the underbelt stays in the trouser loops. Conventional 2.25-inch accessories remain part of the design brief.
Matching gold-colored PVD hardware is planned to retain the polished uniform appearance with cleaning rather than routine metal polishing.
These are intended improvements. Retention, comfort, compatibility and finish durability will be evaluated through prototype and field testing.
02 / Construction
The exterior follows the familiar language of traditional duty gear: black basketweave, a 2.25-inch profile, four two-button keepers and polished-gold hardware. The work underneath is aimed at a more stable, less cumbersome system.
A hook-lined outer belt is intended to engage a separate 1.5-inch loop-faced underbelt. Semi-rigid internal reinforcement is planned to reduce sag under a duty load. The system is being developed to accept conventional holsters, pouches and accessories designed for 2.25-inch belts.
The four keepers are cosmetic. Their role is to preserve the uniform appearance; inner-to-outer engagement is intended to retain the belt with the keepers removed. That retention must be validated through development and field testing.
03 / Two underbelts
Both underbelts are planned around a 1.5-inch profile to fit standard uniform-trouser loops, with outward-facing loop material, a flat closure and minimal overlap behind the outer belt. Final fit remains subject to testing.
| Design intent | Non-Padded | Padded |
|---|---|---|
| Profile | Thin and low-bulk | Slightly thicker, with discreet interior cushioning |
| Intended preference | Maximum concealment and a close, traditional fit | Added support for extended shifts, prolonged sitting and heavier loads |
| Outer surface | Loop-faced | Loop-faced |
| Closure | Flat, low-bulk design | Flat, low-bulk design |
| When assembled | Traditional exterior | Same traditional exterior; cushioning concealed |
Cushioning is intended to stay low-profile. This is not a thick battle-belt pad.
04 / Materials & hardware
The intended specification pairs polished stainless steel with a gold-colored PVD finish. The buckle and keeper buttons are planned to share the same restrained, polished-gold tone.
The finish target is highly scratch- and tarnish-resistant, with resistance to corrosion and loss of shine. “Maintenance-free polished gold finish” means a goal of cleaning only, without routine metal polishing. It does not mean scratch-proof. Finish performance is not yet validated.
The visual direction is a traditional double-prong buckle with a thin, flat-faced gold frame and gently rounded corners, sitting over the black belt on both sides. Four two-button keepers complete the exterior; there is no standalone rear button. A secure, modern closure concealed within that silhouette is still being developed; the exact production closure is not finalized.
